Functional testing can hold the key to a life changing impact

Functional testing takes out a lot of the guesswork of how your body is currently functioning or dysfunctioning.

It allows to establish or rule out underlying causes of symptoms (insufficiencies, deficiencies, imbalances etc.) and can empower you with knowledge on how your diet and lifestyle can best answer your individual needs.

Testing (including those carried out by your GP) provides us with a snapshot of the body's current level of resources and functional imbalances. It will not diagnose a condition, however testing can be a useful tool to rule out potential disease.

It will also provide an essential base line measure to monitor progress through our interventions.

Our tests are carried out by professional industry-recognised laboratories in the UK or in the USA.

Laboratories will require saliva, blood, urine or stool samples.

Gut Microbiome Analysis

The health of the entire body is dependent on a healthy gut and gut microbiome.

A Comprehensive Stool Profile provides valuable insight into digestive function, intestinal inflammation, and the intestinal microbiome. It can help us find out what specific imbalance is causing your symptoms so we can work methodically to bring back your gut health and it will echo on the whole body health.

A sizeable volume of research associates an imbalanced gut microbiome with multiple disease states both within and outside of the GI tract.

Symptoms such as sugar cravings may indicate a yeast overgrowth ; the inability to digest dairy may mean lactobacillus strain is too low or missing etc.

What is a common mistake?

Taking Probiotics regularly without knowing what essential strain you are missing or what strain is already overly present in your gut can actually increase your microbiome imbalances and lead to new symptoms.

Who is it for?

Stool Profiles can reveal important information about the root cause of many common gastrointestinal and non-GI conditions including:

Gas/ Bloating  .  Indigestion/ reflux  .  Abdominal pain/ cramps  .  Diarrhoea/ Constipation  .  Inflammatory Bowel  . Disease (IBD)  .  Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)  .  Atopic dermatitis/ eczema  .  Allergies  .  Low immunity  .  Alzheimer’s  . Autoimmune diseases  .  Mood disorders (depression)  .  Joint aches/ Arthritis  .  Diabetes  .  Weight issues

H.Pylori Stool Testing

This test detects antigens towards H. pylori in the stool and can be used to assess whether the immune system is responding to H. pylori. That means it will will tell if you have an active infection or not.

It can also be used to monitor the efficacy of clinical interventions after known H. pylori infection.

Food Inflammation Test

+ Gut Barrier Panel

The health of the entire body is dependent on a healthy gut. â€‹

This test is a 3 in one; Food sensitivities, Inflammation and Gut Permeability in one test.

Inflammation associated with foods is an underlying factor for many chronic conditions.

Eliminating foods, supplementing with Probiotics and then after a few weeks when the symptoms have lessened, start to reintroduce foods without making sure the gut lining is in good health.

If the gut integrity is compromised and you start reintroducing foods, the symptoms will reappear immediately.

Fixing a damaged gut is essential for long-term health. You need to repair your gut lining, mucosa, and damage from inflammation.

Gut integrity is key for optimal health

Who is it for?

This test is highly recommended for individuals with:

✓ Auto-immune diseases diagnosis

✓ Long-term use of Steroids/ NSAIDs (Ibuprofen)

This test can reveal important information about the root cause of many common gastrointestinal and non-GI conditions including:

Gas/ Bloating  .  Indigestion/ reflux  .  Abdominal pain/ cramps  .  Diarrhoea/ Constipation  .  Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)  .  Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)  .  Atopic dermatitis/ eczema  .  Allergies  .  Migraines  .  Low immunity  .  Alzheimer’s  .  Autoimmune diseases  .  Mood disorders (depression)  .  Joint aches/ Arthritis  .  Diabetes  .  Weight issues

SIBO Testing

SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) is a common clinical condition characterised by excessive bacteria in the small intestine

Studies show that a large percentage of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is actually Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).

SIBO breath testing assesses hydrogen and methane gases to evaluate for SIBO or intestinal methanogen overgrowth.

Taking Probiotics regularly without knowing what essential strain you are missing or what strain is already overly present in your gut can actually increase your microbiome imbalances and lead to new symptoms.

Symptoms and conditions commonly associated with SIBO include:

Bloating/distension  .  Gas  .  Diarrhoea  .  Constipation  .  Abdominal pain  .  Dyspepsia  .  Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)  .  Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)  .  Coeliac Disease  .  Diabetes  .  Fibromyalgia  .  Rosacea  .  Parkinson's Disease  .  Obesity

Risk factors for development of SIBO include:

Intestinal motility disorders  .  Chronic pancreatitis  .  Abdominal structural/anatomic issues  .  Gastroenteritis  .  Immunocompromise  .  PPI use : decreased bacteriostatic digestive secretions (HCl, pancreatic enzymes, bile acids)  .  Ileocecal valve dysfunction

Hormonal Testing / Adrenal And Sex Hormone (Dutch Test)

DUTCH Complete can help identify the root causes of Sex hormone and Adrenal imbalances in both women and men.

DUTCH Complete provides a comprehensive assessment of 35 different sex and adrenal hormones, including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol along with their metabolites.

Imbalances in these hormones can negatively impact energy levels, sleep, emotions and many other health concerns. It can also be the underlying driver to unexplained pain linked to conditions such as fibromyalgia.

What is a common mistake?

Supplementing with hormones that are not adapted and that will increase an already existing imbalance and generate toxicity.

Who is it for?

DUTCH Complete can provide insights into conditions such as:

For Women and Men:

Infertility  .  Weight gain  .  Fatigue  .  Low libido  .  Sleep issues  .  Mood disorders

For Women:

Premenstrual syndrome  .  PMDD  .  PCOS  .  Menopause  .  HRT monitoring : the test can be used to gather baseline measurements for the administration and monitoring of hormone replacement therapy

For Men:

Prostate issues

Cycle mapping/ Fertility and Pregnancy Hormones

In other scenarios, the clinical picture cannot be properly captured without “mapping” out the hormonal pattern throughout their menstrual cycle.

For some women, testing reproductive hormones (progesterone, estrogen, etc.) on a single day is sufficient.

DUTCH Cycle Mapping maps the progesterone and estrogen pattern throughout the menstrual cycle. It provides the full picture of a woman’s cycle to answer important questions for patients with month-specific symptoms, infertility and PCOS.

Nine targeted estrogen and progesterone measurements are taken throughout the cycle to characterise the follicular (~ day 1-14), ovulatory (~ day 14) and luteal (~ day 15-28) phases.

The expected pattern of hormones shows relatively low estrogen levels early in the cycle, a surge around ovulation and modest levels in the latter third of the cycle (the luteal phase). Progesterone levels, on the other hand, stay relatively low until after ovulation. After ovulation, levels ideally increase (>10-fold) and then drop back down at the end of the cycle.

A disruption in this cycle can lead to infertility or hormonal imbalance.

Who is it for?

DUTCH Cycle Mapping is useful in many scenarios, including:

Women struggling with infertility  .  Women with cycling hormones and no menses  .  Partial hysterectomy (ovaries intact but no uterus)  .  AblationsWomen with irregular cycles  .  PCOS  .  If the luteal phase shifts from month-to-month  .  When timing of testing is difficult due to long or short cycles  .  Women whose hormonal symptoms tend to fluctuate throughout the cycle  .  PMS, mid-cycle spotting, migraines, etc.

This test is not suitable for:

Postmenopausal women  .  Women on birth control

Thyroid comprehensive Blood Testing

Identifying thyroid dysfunctions can reveal key information on imbalances within skin and hair, support weight management, and drastically improve mood and energy levels.

Includes 33 biomarkers

The thyroid is a gland that sits at front of your neck and sets your entire metabolic rate. It controls your weight, energy levels, mood, and is involved in everything from your cholesterol to female hormones.

According to the British Thyroid Foundation, 1 in 20 people in the UK suffers from thyroid disorders.

This is most probably well underestimated as often thyroid disorders go undiagnosed.

Why? Doctors believe this could be down to 2 main reasons. Firstly, mild cases of hypo- or hyperthyroidism don't always have symptoms, and secondly, when they do, they appear so slowly, that people misattribute them to other things.

Undiagnosed thyroid disorders can create a greater strain on various bodily functions. Thyroid imbalances can often go undetected when certain crucial markers are not taken into account during testing (like the limited tests offered by GPs).

Our comprehensive Thyroid Check offers the full spectrum of thyroid markers including T4, free T4, T3, Free T3, Reverse T3, T3 Uptake, thyroid Antibodies, many ratios and also includes glucose and a full blood count to accurately identify and ‘ check’ for subclinical disorders and help assess thyroid gland function.

Mould Testing

Mycotoxins (toxins from mould) are some of the most prevalent toxins in the environment.

Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by fungi like mould, which can infest buildings, vehicles, and foodstuffs.

These fungi then release mycotoxins into the environment causing in some individuals symptoms of many different chronic diseases.

Most mycotoxin exposures in North America, Europe, and Australia are through airborne exposure.

Food may be a major source of mycotoxins in third-world nations that lack government inspection of foods, especially the grains such as rice, corn, wheat, rye, and barley.

Many grains that are harvested have been found to be contaminated with mycotoxins but little of such harvests are discarded and are frequently sold for animal feeds such as dog food or feed for cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and horses.

This test includes 76 urinary metabolites that provide a comprehensive snapshot of a patient’s overall health as the initial screening test and is useful for discovering underlying causes for chronic illness.

Who is it for?

Diseases and symptoms linked to Mycotoxin exposure include:

Fever  .  Pneumonia-like symptoms  .  Heart disease  .  Rheumatic disease  .  Asthma  .  Sinusitis  .  Cancer  .  Memory loss  .  Vision loss  .  Chronic fatigue  .  Skin rashes  .  Depression  .  ADHD  .  Anxiety  .  Liver damage
